I had the privilege of coming along to work on early UI and HUD concepts for DC's Aquaman. It was a blast bridging the functional with the organic, and we heavily referenced aquatic fauna, bio-luminescent creatures and underwater life to get the right look and feel.
For Orm's HUD I referenced fish scales and aquatic plant life. Striking a balance bewtween the organic and functional was a fun challenge.
Using a combination of hand painted displacement maps, I created a number of these spherical domes for various uses.
